Video Games Testing - 5 Reasons You May Be Denied For A Job
Paid beta game testing isn't actually that hard. The truth is, you can actually go so far as to say it's a simple job which does not call for a ridiculous amount of hard work. All you have to do is boot the game up, play through it, record the game's problems, then collect a paycheck right after you are all done. Seriously, does that seem like a hard job to you? I doubt it!
5 Reasons You'll Be Denied for Video Game Beta Tester Jobs...
- You do not possess a minimum of three years of video game experience. In all seriousness, you don't have to be a gaming legend that has beaten each and every video game out there. However, you do need to have fundamental knowledge of the gaming industry and how game design works. The more experience and information you have, the better off you will be when it comes to getting video game tester jobs.
- You are not at least 18 years of age. Some companies have been known to hire (with restrictions) gamers who are 16 years of age. On the other hand, this is in most cases a rare occurrence in the arena of expert beta game testing.
- You do not possess a next-gen system and/or a high-end gaming rig (PC). Possessing both is better, but one or the other should do. If you are not up to date with gaming technology, you don't stand a chance.
- You don't have a video games tester resume. No resume, no consideration of any kind, period. Being a video game tester means having to do real work which NEEDS TO BE taken seriously. It is not a hobby you do for fun on Saturday -- it is a REAL job.
- You've inferior grammar skills. Video game testers fill out a great many reports & forms which are used by video game engineers to fix & improve video game titles. If the reports are not thoroughly detailed and easily comprehended, the programmers cannot do their job. If a programmer is unable to complete his job, it more often than not implies the tester has not done his.
If the 5 elements in the list above aren't an issue for you, then you are undeniably a candidate for professional video game testing. All that is remaining to do would be to start looking for video game tester jobs online -- and if you already know where to search, then it's not going to take you any longer than a week or two!
